It dawned on me recently that fall is a long season of décor. While I love to warm up my home with layers of snuggly blankets, pops of orange, pumpkins and hay bales; after a while I grow tired of it all. After all, I think the stores had the Halloween decorations and candy out some time in August!
So I thought to myself, how can I still change up my décor for the fall season, but not feel like getting rid of all the pumpkins before Halloween even arrives? What will last through Thanksgiving? Then I thought, why not go with a more restrained palette for my fall décor this year and then just add some pops of orange or green to spice things up for a bit?! You know I can't help myself with the pops of color, right?!
Because I am a girl who loves to bring the outdoors inside, I fell in love when I saw this photo on Pinterest. I love the mix of beautiful feathers and twigs. Add in some white pumpkins and vintage books for added interest.
Trust me when I say, you don't have to decorate with orange this fall. This fabulous dining room found on Liz Marie Blog proves that green and white can certainly do the trick too! Think pears...! Of course as autumn continues, it's easy to change the greens to orange. Having a neutral base to work with makes doing so a whole lot easier!
The same holds true for your living spaces too! I love to add pillows and blankets to warm up a room. Craftberry Bush has done just that so perfectly in this sitting room! I especially love the deer pillow, how cute is that? Plaids are super popular this year, so you should be able to pick up some new accessories in this traditional autumn print just about anywhere.
You can also replace some of you summer items with a few twiggy trees and books you can't wait to read by the warmth of a blazing fire for a classic fall feel.
Moving on to your bedroom, because who doesn't like to linger a bit longer under the blankets as the temperatures start to take a dip?! Of course, you already know it's time to switch your bedding to your heavier linens. Adding on soft blankets is a no-brainer, but what about layering what's under your feet? Wouldn't it feel great to step out of bed onto a soft rug? I adore Apartment Therapy, as they never disappoint with their creativity. Here are a few fun ways to cozy up your bedroom for fall, found on their website.
